Cahokia, Illinois

Mayor

As Mayor of the Village of Cahokia, I bring you greetings on behalf of the Board of Trustees and village employees.  Since assuming office in May 2003, I have been committed to serving the residents of the Village and to improving the quality if life within the community.  The goal of my administration has been to "raise the bar" on the quality of services provided by the Village to its residents, businesses, and visitors.

Since its establishment in 1699, Cahokia has enjoyed a rich history.  We are proud of Cahokia's historic landmarks, the Jarrot Mansion, Holy Family Log Church, and the Old Cahokia Courthouse.

Cahokia also offers many other services and amenities, including a beautiful 65-acre park, senior/community center, ice rink, Olympic size swimming pool, and one of the area's finest 18-hole public golf courses, "The Prairies".  Come celebrate the rich history Cahokia has to offer.  When you see our history, you will believe in our future!

The most challenging issues facing the Village of Cahokia is job and economic development opportunities.  My administration is undertaking a rejuvenation plan for the recruitment and retention of businesses.  I have steamlined communications between the business community and the Mayor's office, and we are extending economic development incentives that are competitive and designed to meet the needs of prospective business enterprises.

There have been many successes within the economic development area in my first two years including relocating Monday Security, addition of Brockland Buick to their family of cars, Stonetree Manufacturing and many other projects in the area of small business development.  Also, the addition of Cahokia Area YMCA as part of the Parks College redevelopment, a place you can now call home.  In Cahokia, Business is on the move making our village the new destination for business development.

As a life-long resident of Cahokia, I believe in Cahokia and I am committed to building a prosperous and vibrant tomorrow.  Our best history is yet to come.  Take the opportunity to discover Cahokia, located at the Center of the St. Louis Business Region.

Respectfully,

Mayor Frank Bergman, M.P.A.
